Parks Canada opens each park's season on its own launch morning. Here's every 2026 launch date in one table, the postponements, and what to expect for 2027.
Last checked: October 2026. Parks Canada had not announced any 2027 launch dates when we wrote this. Every 2027 date below is expected, based on the 2026 pattern. We'll update this page when the official dates are out.
How Parks Canada launches work
Parks Canada doesn't use a rolling window. Each park, or group of offers within a park, has a launch day, and on that morning the whole season goes on sale at once through reservation.pc.gc.ca. Launches start at 8am local park time (8:30am in Newfoundland), and most of the busy Western launches run with a queue.
The official list lives at parks.canada.ca/voyage-travel/reserve. For 2026, launches ran from mid-January to mid-February, with a few later offers (the Moraine Lake shuttle in April, Cape Breton's Skyline parking in May).
2026 launches were postponed
Several January 2026 launches were moved after technical problems. Parks Canada posted a notice on January 23, 2026 and rescheduled about thirty offers. The table shows the original date where we have it and the date the launch actually happened. The original dates come from pre-season coverage (Vancouver Trails) and the actual dates from Parks Canada's own launch table.
Whether 2027 follows the original or the postponed calendar is the open question. Our guess is that Parks Canada will return to a mid-to-late January start, but treat every 2027 cell as a guess until the official list is published.

What to do before your park's launch day
- Pick your park's row, then add it to your calendar when the 2027 list is published. We don't send release-day reminders.
- Note the time zone. A Banff launch at 8am MT is 7am in Vancouver and 10am in Toronto.
- Have backups inside the same launch. Banff's frontcountry campgrounds all open together, so your plan B is often on the same screen. See the Banff launch-day playbook.
- Know the cancellation rules before you book several options to decide later. Parks Canada's change and cancellation fee is $11.50 online, and inside three days of arrival you lose the first night. Details in the Parks Canada cancellation policy guide.
After launch day
When a launch sells out, the season isn't over. Parks Canada says a cancelled campsite "will be made available to other guests", and in the weeks before each date people drop the bookings they no longer need. The three-day mark before arrival, where the first night stops being refundable, is when we'd expect a lot of them.
Canada Camp Alerts watches a set of high-demand Parks Canada facilities, including Two Jack Lakeside, Tunnel Mountain Village 2, the Banff, Kootenay and Yoho backcountry, Lake O'Hara Campground, the West Coast Trail and the Moraine Lake shuttle. Set a watch on the facility page for your nights. We alert you when a night goes from booked out to open, meaning any site at that facility is free that night. We don't check that one site is free for your whole stay or match party size, so check the booking page before you pay. You always book on Parks Canada's site.
Free plan: one watch for one night, email, 15 minutes after pass holders. Season pass: C$25 once, 12 months, no auto-renew, up to 10 watches with date ranges, instant email, Telegram and browser push.
