About
Alouette is one of the three frontcountry campgrounds in Golden Ears Provincial Park, the big Coast Mountains park 11 km north of Maple Ridge. The campgrounds sit about 11 km past the park entrance, by Alouette Lake. BC Parks' park page lists it as one campground; the reservation system splits it into Alouette North and Alouette South, each with its own map.
Alouette campers share Campers' Beach with Gold Creek, and the Alouette (South Beach) day-use area has a marked swimming area from June 17 to September 5 and canoe, kayak and pedalboat rentals in summer, weather permitting. BC Parks lists swimming, canoeing, boating, windsurfing, water-skiing and fishing on Alouette Lake.
The sites
The Alouette North map on camping.bcparks.ca lists 100 bookable sites in lettered loops. BC Parks doesn't publish a tent, RV and accessible-site breakdown on the park page, so read each site's details (size, surface, equipment allowed) before you book.
In 2025 Alouette opened for arrivals from April 16, a few weeks after Gold Creek (March 28), according to the BC government news release. The 2027 opening date hasn't been announced.
How booking works
Book on camping.bcparks.ca or through the call centre (7 am to 7 pm PT; $5 surcharge for phone bookings and changes). From BC Parks' frontcountry camping page:
- Three-month rolling window at 7 am PT, covering the whole stay. Arrive July 25 for four nights and you can book all four from 7 am PT on April 25. The window was four months until 2025, so ignore older guides.
- Long weekends release early on set dates. In 2026: February 15 (Victoria Day), April 1 (Canada Day), April 30 (BC Day) and June 4 (Labour Day). Expect similar dates in 2027, based on 2026. Statutory holiday weekends have a three-night minimum.
- Stay limit: 14 nights per park per calendar year.
- Transaction fee: $6 per site per night, capped at $18 per site, non-refundable.
- First-day bookings can't have their dates changed later.
Last checked: October 2026.
When it sells out
Summer weekends and long weekends are the pressure points: those nights go fast once they open at 7 am PT. Sunday to Thursday nights outside the school holidays are much easier, and so are the shoulder months once the campground opens in spring.
How to get a cancellation
BC Parks' cancellation windows for frontcountry sites:
- More than 7 days out: camping fees refunded, less a $6 cancellation fee
- Within 7 days: one night's fee deducted
- Arrival day: two nights' fees deducted
- No changes after 8 pm two days before arrival
That makes the eighth day before a weekend the moment to look, plus the arrival day itself.
You can watch Alouette North on Canada Camp Alerts for the nights you want. When any site in the section frees up on a watched night that was full, we send an alert. Each night is judged on its own, so for a multi-night stay you may end up on different sites; we don't match site, party size or vehicle, and we never book or hold anything for you. The free plan gives one watch with email alerts 15 minutes after we see the opening. The season pass is C$25 once for 12 months, doesn't auto-renew, and gives up to 10 watches with instant alerts by email, Telegram or web push.
Tips
- Watch Gold Creek too. Both campgrounds draw from the same crowd, and a free night at either gets you into the park.
- Skip the day-use pass. A camping reservation covers you. Day visitors needed a vehicle pass on Fridays to Mondays and holidays from May 15 to September 7, 2026, released at 7 am PT two days before (BC Parks day-use passes). We don't monitor those passes.
- Have your account ready. Log in before an alert arrives, and confirm the site fits your equipment before you pay.

Questions
Is Alouette North the same as the Alouette campground?
BC Parks' park page calls it the Alouette campground; on the reservation site it's split into two sections, Alouette North and Alouette South. This page and its alerts cover Alouette North.
When can I book Alouette North for summer?
Three months before your arrival date, from 7 am PT on camping.bcparks.ca. Long weekends open on separate dates; in 2026 they were February 15, April 1, April 30 and June 4. Last checked: October 2026.
What happens if I cancel within a week?
BC Parks keeps one night's camping fee if you cancel within 7 days of arrival, and two nights' fees if you cancel on the arrival day. More than 7 days out you get the camping fees back, less a $6 cancellation fee.
Do alerts include Alouette South?
No. The watch covers the Alouette North section only. A night counts as open when any Alouette North site is free.
