How to book the 25 Maple Bay cabins at Cultus Lake: the 3-month 7am PT window, how fast summer goes, and when cancelled cabins come back on BC Parks.
About
Cultus Lake Provincial Park sits 11 km southwest of Chilliwack, about an hour and a half from Vancouver, wrapped around the warm, busy lake of the same name. It has four campgrounds (Delta Grove, Clear Creek, Entrance Bay and Maple Bay), large day-use areas, and the Maple Bay cabins: the park's roofed option and the main reason people who don't own a tent book here.
BC Parks lists swimming inside the buoyed areas (there are no lifeguards, and the sandy beaches have steep drop-offs), canoes, kayaks and paddleboards, water-skiing (counter-clockwise only), and fishing for rainbow and cutthroat trout and Dolly Varden. Maple Bay has a wharf and a dog beach area.
The sites
The Maple Bay Cabins map on camping.bcparks.ca lists 25 cabins, each for one to five people. Check the current listing on the BC Parks site for what's supplied and what to bring, as we couldn't find an up-to-date official list of what's inside.
Don't confuse them with the Cultus Lake Park cabins at 4163 Columbia Valley Highway, which are run by the community of Cultus Lake and booked directly with them, not through BC Parks.
How booking works
Maple Bay cabins book on camping.bcparks.ca or through the BC Parks call centre (7 am to 7 pm PT, $5 surcharge on phone transactions). BC Parks' frontcountry rules:
- Three-month rolling window at 7 am PT, covering your whole stay: for a July 25 arrival you can book from 7 am PT on April 25. (The window was four months until 2025.)
- Long weekends open on staggered dates. In 2026 they were February 15 (Victoria Day), April 1 (Canada Day), April 30 (BC Day) and June 4 (Labour Day). Expect a similar pattern for 2027, based on 2026.
- Stay limit: 14 nights per park per calendar year.
- First-day bookings can't have their dates changed later; you'd have to cancel and rebook.
The cabin listing may carry its own minimum stay or season, so read it before you book. Last checked: October 2026.
When it sells out
With only 25 cabins a short drive from the Lower Mainland, summer weekends and the long weekends are the hardest to get, and they go on release morning. Weeknights, spring and early fall are where you'll usually find gaps.
How to get a cancellation
BC Parks' cancellation windows page sets out the frontcountry rule: cancel more than 7 days out for a full refund of camping fees (less a $6 fee), lose one night's fee inside 7 days, and two nights on the arrival day. That page doesn't spell out a separate rule for cabins, so check the terms shown when you book. If the frontcountry rule applies, the days just before the one-week mark are when cabins are most likely to come back.
Watch the Maple Bay cabins on Canada Camp Alerts and we'll alert you when a fully booked night opens up. A night counts as open when any of the 25 cabins is free, and each night stands alone, so for a longer stay you may need to book different cabins on different nights. We don't match cabin, party size or accessibility needs, and we don't book or hold anything: you book on the BC Parks site. The free plan is one watch with email alerts 15 minutes after we see the opening. The season pass is C$25 once for 12 months (no auto-renew), with up to 10 watches and instant alerts by email, Telegram or web push.
Tips
- Accessibility: if you need a specific barrier-free layout, check the cabin's details on the booking page; the alert won't tell you which cabin opened.
- One-night gaps: a single free night midweek is common. If your dates are flexible, watch a range and grab what fits.
- Be logged in. A freed cabin on a summer weekend doesn't last.
