About
Cultus Lake Provincial Park is 11 km southwest of Chilliwack and about an hour and a half from Vancouver. The lake is warm, busy and made for summer: buoyed swimming areas, canoes, kayaks and paddleboards, water-skiing (counter-clockwise only) and trout fishing. The park has four campgrounds and the Maple Bay cabins, plus a set of group sites for families, clubs and youth groups who want to camp together.
The sites
The BC Parks reservation system lists four group sites at Cultus Lake:
- Westside Site A and Westside Site B: listed for up to 30 people each
- Honeymoon Bay Side A and Honeymoon Bay Side B: listed for up to 44 people each
The park page links a Westside group location map. Check each site's details on camping.bcparks.ca before booking, since BC Parks says maximum group sizes vary by park.
How booking works
BC Parks' group camping rules:
- 12-month window: group sites can be booked up to 12 months before arrival.
- First-day bookings can't change dates. If you book on day one of the window, you can't move your arrival, departure or length of stay.
- Up-front payment: all camping and transaction fees are paid when you book, and regular bookings are charged for at least 15 adults (16 and over). From 2027, visitors from outside BC pay an extra $20 non-resident fee. Seniors' and social-services discounts don't apply.
- Youth groups need at least 12 people, tied to a BC school, recreation centre or non-profit youth organization, with at least one adult per 8 youths.
- Stay limit: 14 nights per park per calendar year.
- Changes cost $6 per groupsite; party-size changes don't carry the fee. Phone transactions add $5 (call centre 7 am to 7 pm PT).
Last checked: October 2026.
When it sells out
Four sites and a 12-month window mean summer weekends often go early, sometimes to groups who come back on the same dates each year. Long weekends are the hardest. Midweek dates and June or September weekends are easier to land.
How to get a cancellation
Group sites follow their own refund clock, set out on BC Parks' cancellation windows page:
- 28 days or more before arrival: camping fees refunded, less the $6 cancellation fee
- Inside 28 days: no camping-fee refund, $6 fee waived
- Most group sites can be cancelled until 8 pm on the arrival date
The four weeks before a date is when cancellations cluster, as organizers who know they're short cancel just before day 28 to get their money back. Inside that window there's less reason to cancel, so late openings are rarer.
You can watch the Cultus Lake group sites on Canada Camp Alerts. When any of the four frees up on a watched night that was full, we send an alert. Each night is judged separately; we don't check capacity or party size for you, and we don't book or hold anything, so you book it yourself on camping.bcparks.ca. The free plan covers one watch with email alerts 15 minutes after we see the opening. The season pass is C$25 once for 12 months (no auto-renew), with up to 10 watches and instant alerts by email, Telegram or web push.
Tips
- Note the capacity. The Westside sites are listed for 30 people and Honeymoon Bay for 44, so check which site opened before you rally the group.
- Watch several weekends if your group can flex; the season pass runs up to 10 watches at once.
- Book on the 12-month date if your dates are fixed. It's the surest route.

The BC Parks reservation system lists four: Westside Site A and Site B, and Honeymoon Bay Side A and Side B.
How far ahead can I book a Cultus Lake group site?
Up to 12 months before your arrival date on camping.bcparks.ca. A booking made on the first day of the window can't have its dates changed. Last checked: October 2026.

28 days or more. Inside 28 days BC Parks doesn't refund group camping fees, though it waives the $6 cancellation fee.
