Quebec's national parks open a whole summer of camping in one weekend. Here's how the 2026 launch worked, what to expect for 2027, and an honest note on why we don't monitor Sépaq.
Last checked: October 2026. We could not confirm an official 2027 launch date from a page we could load. Dates for 2027 are expected, based on the 2026 launch. Confirm on sepaq.com before you plan around them.
First, what we don't do
Canada Camp Alerts does not monitor Sépaq. Its booking site sits behind bot protection, and we don't get around that. Sépaq is on our list of places we don't watch. This page is here because the launch is close, the rules are confusing in English, and you should know exactly where you stand. Everything below comes from Sépaq and Government of Quebec announcements.
How Sépaq launches camping
Sépaq (Société des établissements de plein air du Québec) runs Quebec's 23 national parks, its wildlife reserves and some tourist centres. Unlike BC Parks or Ontario Parks, it doesn't use a rolling window. It opens a whole season of camping in one launch, park by park, in time slots.
There are separate launches for different products:
| Product | For summer 2027 | Source |
|---|
| Chalets (wildlife reserves and parks) | Opened Sat April 18, 2026, 8am, time slots and virtual waiting room | FQCC, Apr 16, 2026 |
| Wildlife reserve camping and ready-to-camp | Opened May 5, 2026, 9am | same |
| National-park camping and ready-to-camp | Expected early November 2026 (not confirmed) | 2026 pattern, below |
What happened for the 2026 season
Sépaq announced the 2026 camping launch on October 31, 2025 (Quebec.ca news release):
- Dates: Saturday and Sunday, November 8 and 9, 2025.
- Where: all 23 national parks, the Lac-Kénogami and Lac-Simon tourist centres, and Camping des Voltigeurs.
- How much: about 7,500 campsites and 650 ready-to-camp (prêt-à-camper) units.
- How: each establishment opened in a time slot spread across the two days. The schedule per park was on Sépaq's booking page, not in the release.
- By phone: 1-800-665-6527.
- Held back: some traditional ready-to-camp units and a few sites weren't for sale at launch and were to be released later in 2026.
Expected for 2027
If Sépaq repeats the pattern, the 2027 national-park launch would fall on a weekend in early November 2026, with the same per-park time slots and waiting room. One search result attributed to Sépaq's booking-openings page mentions November 7 and 8, 2026, which fits the Saturday–Sunday pattern, but we could not load that page to check it. Treat it as likely, not confirmed.
Sépaq's camping pages also say new booking terms apply to stays from April 30, 2027. Read the terms on sepaq.com before you book, especially the change and cancellation rules, because they may differ from what you remember from previous years.
How the waiting room works
From the 2026 release:
- A virtual waiting room switches on at the start of each time slot.
- Everyone who enters a few minutes before the slot opens gets a random priority rank. Arriving 40 minutes early is no better than arriving 3 minutes early.
- After the slot opens, latecomers are served first come, first served behind them.
Sépaq's own advice is to plan your stay ahead of time on its site and to create a customer account before launch day, so checkout is faster.
A launch-weekend plan
- Find your park's slot on Sépaq's booking-openings page as soon as the schedule is published. Parks open at different times, and you may want two parks in two different slots.
- Shortlist campgrounds and loops in advance. On launch day you won't have time to read site descriptions.
- Be in the waiting room a few minutes before the slot, logged in.
- Have a second choice of dates for the same campground, and a second campground in the same park.
- Don't open many tabs hoping for a better rank. The rank is random per entry; check Sépaq's rules on multiple sessions before you try it.
If your dates sell out
Without monitoring, the options are manual:
- Check back on the Sépaq site in the weeks before your stay, when people adjust plans. The new 2027 booking terms will set when cancelling stops being worth it for them, which is when sites are most likely to reappear.
- Look at the units held back at launch. In 2026 Sépaq said some ready-to-camp units and sites would go on sale later in the year.
- Consider other systems. Parks Canada runs Forillon, La Mauricie and the Mingan Archipelago in Quebec, on its own launch day (Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at 8am ET). Those are on Parks Canada's reservation site, not Sépaq's. See Parks Canada 2027 reservation dates.
For parks we do watch, you can set a watch on any facility page. The list is on /parks.
FAQ
When do Sépaq camping reservations open for 2027?
Expected early November 2026, by park, over a weekend. The 2026 season opened November 8–9, 2025. A Sépaq page reportedly lists November 7–8, 2026; confirm it on sepaq.com.
Is it a lottery?
Partly. Your place in the queue is random if you're in the waiting room a few minutes before your park's slot opens. After that it's first come, first served.
Can I book by phone?
Yes, at 1-800-665-6527, according to Sépaq's 2026 announcement.
Does Canada Camp Alerts monitor Sépaq?
No. Sépaq's site uses bot protection and we don't bypass it. We'll only add Sépaq if that changes in a way that lets us read availability legitimately.
Are wildlife reserves part of the November launch?
No. Wildlife-reserve camping for summer 2027 opened May 5, 2026, and chalets on April 18, 2026.
