How to book Loop Brook, Hermit Meadows and the ACC's Asulkan Cabin at Rogers Pass, with launch dates, the 48-hour rule and when cancellations appear.
About the park
Glacier National Park in BC straddles Rogers Pass in the Selkirk Mountains, on the Trans-Canada Highway. It's a park of steep valleys, glaciers and avalanche country, with a deep railway history. Not to be confused with Glacier National Park in Montana: this one is run by Parks Canada and books on the Parks Canada Reservation Service.
Where to stay
The places we watch in the park:
- Loop Brook & Hermit Meadows: one watch for both. Loop Brook is a 20-site, reservation-only frontcountry campground 5 km west of the Rogers Pass summit. Hermit Meadows is an 8-site backcountry campground at the top of a very steep trail, reservable mid-July to mid-September, maximum 3 nights.
- Asulkan Cabin: the Alpine Club of Canada's 10-person cabin in the Asulkan Valley, 7 km and 850 m of gain from Illecillewaet, open all year.
Parks Canada's other campground at the pass, Illecillewaet (60 sites, 3 km west of the summit), keeps 50% of its sites first-come, first-served.
How booking works
Loop Brook and Hermit Meadows book through the Parks Canada Reservation Service (1-877-737-3783). Glacier's 2026 launch was set for Friday, January 16 at 8:00am PT and postponed to Thursday, January 29 after technical problems. 2027 hasn't been announced; expect mid-January, based on 2026. Sites can't be booked within 48 hours of arrival. Details are on Parks Canada's camping and backcountry pages.
Asulkan Cabin books through the Alpine Club of Canada: members up to 180 days ahead, non-members up to 90, from midnight Mountain Time. Inside 7 days of the trip, phone 403-678-3200.
Last checked: October 2026.
When it books out
Everything here is small: 20 sites at Loop Brook, 8 at Hermit Meadows and 10 spaces at Asulkan. Summer weekends at the campgrounds and winter weekends at the cabin are the hardest to get.
Getting a cancelled spot
- Loop Brook and Hermit Meadows: cancel 3 or more days before arrival for a full refund less the reservation and cancellation fees; later, the first night is lost too. Online booking closes 48 hours before arrival.
- Asulkan Cabin: 75% refund more than 15 days before the first night, nothing after; inside 7 days it's phone-only.
Set a watch with your first and last night and we'll email you when one goes from booked out to bookable. Alerts are per facility per night: a night counts as open when any site or space is free. We don't match a specific site across nights, your party size or your vehicle, and we don't hold or book anything; you book on the official site. The free plan gives you one watch with email alerts 15 minutes after we spot an opening. The season pass is C$25 once for 12 months, no auto-renew, with up to 10 watches and instant alerts by email, Telegram or web push.
