How the Berg Lake Trail books in Mount Robson Park: one opening day at 7 a.m. PT, the 14-day refund rule, and how to catch a camp that opens up.
About the park
Mount Robson Provincial Park sits between Valemount and Jasper, around Mount Robson. Its big draw is the 23 km Berg Lake Trail, with seven backcountry campgrounds from Kinney Lake to Robson Pass. BC Parks says the trail has been completely repaired after weather-related closures but that long closures have been common in recent years, so read the advisories before you go. The trail has a permanent boil-water advisory, campfires are banned, bikes are allowed only on the first 7 km to Kinney Lake, and Snowbird Pass is closed from May 1 to July 1 each year for wildlife calving.

How booking works
In peak season (May 27 to September 29 in 2026) you need a reservation to camp on the trail. BC Parks opens the whole peak season on a single day at 7 a.m. PT: for 2026 it was Tuesday, December 2, 2025. The 2027 date hasn't been announced. If spots remain, you can book until 3 p.m. PT on your arrival date. Book at camping.bcparks.ca or 1-800-689-9025, and check in at the Mount Robson Welcome Centre. Fees are C$10 per adult and C$5 per youth per night, plus transaction fees and a C$20 non-resident fee for visitors from outside B.C. Last checked: October 2026.
When it books out
With the whole season released at once, the prime summer nights go on opening morning; the B.C. government's own announcement says reservations "often fill up fast". What's left after that is mostly midweek and shoulder-season nights.
Getting a cancelled spot
Berg Lake has its own cancellation rules: cancel more than 14 days before arrival and the camping fees come back minus C$6 per tent pad; inside 14 days a cancelled trip gets no refund. Cancellations close at 3 p.m. on the arrival date. So most tent pads come back in the days just before the 14-day line.
Set a Berg Lake watch with your first and last night, and we'll alert you when a sold-out night has a free tent pad at any of the seven camps. We don't match the same camp across nights, your party size or your itinerary, and we don't hold or book anything; you book at camping.bcparks.ca. The free plan gives one watch with email alerts 15 minutes after we spot an opening; the season pass is C$25 once for 12 months (no auto-renew), with up to 10 watches, instant alerts, and Telegram and browser push.
